About the Owner
When Ernie Aragon was getting ready to finish high school, he knew he had to work a little harder to find a job.  It was in February 1952 and at that time, it was difficult to find work with a Spanish surname.  Determined to find work, Ernie would ride his motorcycle from East Los Angeles to Las Tunas and Live Oak Avenue, beginning in Alhambra and ending at Peck Road in Arcadia.  Everyday, Ernie would go door-to-door to all of the businesses on the job hunt.  One day he came across a gentleman who rented a space behind a real estate office in Arcadia installing glass on cars.  He proposed to the gentleman that if he worked for him for two weeks and the gentleman liked his work, he would be kept on board.  Ernie got the job and earned $0.85/hour.

Growing up, Ernie raced motorcycles and even raced with actor and avid racer Steve McQueen.  Ernie worked as a motorcycle stunt double in several Hollywood films including Bruce Brown's "On Any Sunday," "Full Throttle"and he played the German soldier who crashed into a fence in "The Great Escape."  Ernie was inducted into the Trailblazers Hall of Fame in 2002 and is a member of motorcycle club "Early Riders," in which Jay Leno is also a member.

A staple of Pasadena's Doo-Dah Parade, Ernie leads the parade in full costume as "The Devil." In this photo, Ernie rides his antique cycle with his antique truck that he built himself.

In September 2008, Ernie Aragon received a resolution from the Senate at the California Capitol in Sacramento, CA recognizing his accomplishments and community involvement.  Ernie is also a long-time member of the service organization, Rotary International.
